Questo apre il metallo in secco e i tratti che si ottengono si rivestono di quelle che rappresentano la sua principale caratteristica: le barbe. La punta standart deve essere in acciaio duro, conica e molto ben affilata, e arrotondata o con angolo ottuso nel caso in cui sia di qualche pietra preziosa. \u00c8 solitamente innestata su un manico lungo di legno di forma cilindrica, e viene sostenuta allo stesso modo di una matita.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Storia della tecnica<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>La stampa pi\u00f9 antica che si conosce \u00e8 attribuita al Maestro del libro di Casa ed \u00e8 data alla fine del XV secolo. D\u00fcrer ha sperimentato le possibilit\u00e0 grafiche di questa tecnica nel San Gerolamo sotto il salice, del 1512, una delle puntesecche che si conoscono dell&#8217;autore. Durate il VXII secolo non vennero sviluppate le possibilit\u00e0 espressive di questa tecnica. Rembrandt utilizz\u00f2 la puntasecca come complemento dell&#8217;acquaforte. Nelle poche puntesecche pure che riuscia realizzare si rispecchi\u00f2 la maestria con la quale utilizzava le possibilit\u00e0 di tale tecnica. La caratteristica principale di questa tecnica, le barbe, rende difficoltosa la realizzazione di lunghe tirature, poich\u00e9 queste si consumano facilmente nel procedimento di stampa. Ci\u00f2 fece in modo che la puntasecca non venisse usata da artigiani incisori nelle loro stampe commerciali. Il XIX secolo port\u00f2 l&#8217;invenzione dell&#8217;acciaiatura, che permise di allungare la vita delle lastre e di realizzare lunghe tirature con successive acciaiature. Da allora fino ai giorni nostri, la puntasecca ha visto lo sviluppo di tutte le sue possibilit\u00e0 espressive per mano di un grande numero \u00a0di artisti quali Whistler, Munch, Rodin, Chagall, Mir\u00f3 \u00a0Picasso.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;
